Recently, Simberon Incorporated, an Ottawa-based software consulting and training company, launched its Simberon Smalltalk Tiger Team. Leveraging Ottawa’s long history of Smalltalk development, Simberon brings together a team of highly experienced Smalltalk developers to provide a consulting team that can tackle problems faced by Smalltalk development projects around the globe. With interest in Smalltalk growing over the past 10 years, there is more and more demand for Smalltalk expertise. The Simberon Smalltalk Tiger Team has experienced Smalltalk developers who can jump in quickly to these projects to perform upgrades, solve difficult problems or develop new components. The developers can work remotely to reduce expenses or on-site to provide closer interaction with the clients.
Simberon is a Cincom Partner and has been working with Cincom for over six years assisting Cincom’s clients. The combination of Simberon’s expertise in Smalltalk with Cincom’s project management and access to Cincom’s support and engineering groups provides a level of service that’s unsurpassed in the field.
“We are in a unique position to undertake difficult projects,” said David Buck, founder of Simberon Incorporated. “We’ve been supporting Smalltalk applications for over 15 years. By working closely with Cincom, we can provide a much deeper level of support for Cincom Smalltalk™ projects. We’ve often fixed problems right down to the virtual machine level, and those solutions were subsequently rolled into Cincom’s next release. We can leverage expertise straight from the Cincom engineering team if needed and provide solutions that fit in with Cincom’s future directions.
“Many of our customers are using Smalltalk versions or dialects that are no longer supported. We can still go in and solve difficult technical problems to get them going again. One of our clients was running a virtual machine that was 15 years out of date. Working with Cincom Consulting, we were still able to locate the problem and make a critical VM change to get them running again.”
Simberon developers have many years of experience using Cincom® VisualWorks®, Cincom® ObjectStudio®, VASmalltalk, GemStone/S, Visual Smalltalk Enterprise and Squeak. They’ve implemented web applications using Seaside and are experts in Store and ENVY.
