The Store source-code versioning system has undergone a significant transformation over the last three years and is rapidly maturing into a truly industrial strength system for teams working in Cincom ObjectStudio® and VisualWorks®.

Several important architectural changes have been made to ensure that database access is platform neutral, SQL dialect agnostic and better supports future schema evolution.  The key to achieving these goals has been the transition to using Glorp in the data layer between Store and the database. This has enabled a host of improvements and positioned us to move forward with modernization plans for the entirety of Store and its associated tools.

As Store moved onto Glorp, we also modernized key frameworks that parts of Store and users fundamentally depended upon, including a more seamless integration with Parcels, an entirely new comparison framework along with a completely new merge engine and new user interfaces for the associated browsers. Some of these tools will be getting new UI’s in coming releases as the underlying foundations mature.  All of this has quickly eliminated the defect backlog for Store, increasing the value of the product and ensuring a smoother and more productive user experience.
